Making a reservation for contingent use

To use the SBSL, please book via the NYUSH Room Reservation System using the template named "Social and Behavioral Science Lab Room Reservation". Before booking, we recommend that you have a clear sense of the room(s) and device(s) you are planning to use. The SBSL has the following booking priorities:

  1. For rooms with specialized equipment, academics and students whose research needs the equipment have priority.
  2. Everyone is welcome to book general rooms.
  3. If you are a student, you need to obtain approval from your faculty advisor/sponsor.

If you have special requirements or would like to have an initial conversation with the Lab Manager, please email shanghai.sbsl@nyu.edu. We are happy to discuss your plans and see how we can meet your needs.

After making the reservation, the Lab Manager will review your request and decide whether to grant you permission to access the lab. Please make the reservation at least 7 days in advance. No late request will be accepted unless under exceptional circumstances. You will receive an email confirmation at your nyu.edu address if your reservation succeeds. Note that if you are a student, you can only apply for contingent use if you are working on a course project for a course confirmed by the Lab Manager. If you are working on long-term projects such as a DURF or a senior thesis project and seek to base your project at the SBSL, please refer to the section "Long-term use application procedure for students".

If any change of plan occurs, you are expected to modify or cancel your reservation accordingly. The Social and Behavioral Science Lab reserves the right to cancel or modify a reservation.
